The University Rio Hortega Hospital in Valladolid becomes the first hospital to develop the new Smart Life project. Partially funded by the EU, aims to promote energy saving and efficiency through sustainable practices in all areas. In order to reduce factors that lead to climate change and carbon emissions.
The hospital within this initiative undertook the renovation of its lighting system by replacing conventional luminaires for LED technology luminaires associated with a new lighting control system. Exponentially improving the energy levels of the building.
The energy rehabilitation has been carried out in different areas such as emergencies areas, public areas technical staff, obstetrical delivery rooms and common areas in 4 blocks of hospitalization and corridors in external consultations. These areas represent approximately 15% of the total area.
Lledó becomes part of this pioneering rehabilitation project offering an “integrated solution” of the latest technology LED lights combined with light control systems that provide maximum flexibility and reliability to users.
The new lighting adapts to the features of different spaces. In examination rooms where light quality is required, Advance CRI 90 and special Variant CRI 90 luminaires have been installed. They offer, thanks to a higher color rendering index (CRI), a greater degree of reliability in the diagnosis.
For the common areas the Variant luminaires with Softlight technology create a perfect daylight simulation. Providing a greater visual comfort for both patients and qualified personnel.
The rehabilitation is completed with Ice Line luminaires that adapt the light to activity requirements in traffic areas.
All of them are integrated with the LLEDO + LUTRON control system that allows the regulation and adaptation of light levels to current needs of professionals and users. Photocells or daylight sensors analyse the need to regulate the light depending on the amount of outdoor lighting and thus increase the efficiency ratio.
It also manages the occupancy rate and in certain moments, the use of the rooms. It gets activated or deactivated by detecting someone’s presence or according to the time of day.
That way, the areas with LED technology in conjunction with lighting control systems turn out to be much more efficient and have higher levels of energy savings.
