New Airbus Campus in Madrid with customized Lighting - BREEAM pre - certified

Aerospace pioneer Airbus, leader in design and manufacturing of aerospace solutions at global scale has a home in Spain, precisely in Getafe (Madrid ). With 50000 m2 surface Airbus Spain positions just behind Toulouse (France) and Hamburg (Germany).

The campus named Futura began to take shape in 2018 thinking in connection and dialogue between the buildings which compose the complex. The Madrid based studio Lamela Arquitectos developed the project integrating open plan workplaces with 95% of the installed lighting systems had been covered with customized proposals from the Lledó Group, adapted to each space. Multiple varieties converts the project into a temple of integrated lighting solutions.

“The key concept is ‘campus’ That’s why we have designed various buildings entering each other into a dialogue and fulfil different functions like access control and staff accreditation or central offices.”

Campus Futura contains more than 17000 m2 built – enough to host up to 1700 employees. It comprises two office buildings (central offices and information management), the ID and accreditation center and a vehicle car park.

Lamela Studio went for a connection between the buildings following the dynamic of a university campus. It’s an avant-garde technology center facilitating the agile and collaborative way of working.

Vicente García from the Lledó Madrid team confess the challenge of the project where the latest innovations of aerospace technology come to light: All solutions should on one hand being adaptable to the “day to day requirements” of the campus on the other hand meet the technological standards about visual comfort of lighting.

The interior of each building responds to its specific functionality. LINE has the capacity to cover the requirement thanks to its optical performance – providing uniform lighting distribution out of a 17 to 50 mm light channel

The entrance halls stays for the identity of the Airbus brand, constant transition areas. The lighting concept respond with bright light taking into consideration glare control. Staircase lighting as a repeating element over the entire building is integrated in steel structure.

For lighting tasks which require higher visual standards like computer screen work in offices , meetings  and other areas – our Lledó lighting consultants went for customized VARIANT optics  – flush mounted and integrated into metal ceiling panels – where Lledó has an expertise over 30 years as Light + Ceiling supplier.

In line of a sustainable environment the campus received already the BREEAM – Very Good pre- qualifying.”
